Instagram comment-to-app-installEvery comment.
A tracked install.

Someone comments PLAY under your reel and gets a DM with a download button in seconds. The button opens your own AppsFlyer, Adjust, Singular or Tenjin link, so every install lands on the post that earned it.

Link in bio installs are invisible.

When a player finds your game through a reel and installs it from your bio, your MMP files it under organic. You never learn which post worked. A comment keyword fixes both problems: fewer steps, and a link that carries the post's name.

Chat33 runs the conversation and counts the tap. Your MMP takes it from the tap and counts the install, the same way it does for an ad network.

The tap is the hand-off: Chat33 logs it against the flow and the post, then sends the person on to your tracking link, where your MMP logs the click with your campaign name.

Set it up in 5 steps.

About fifteen minutes for the first post, two for every post after.

  1. 01

Make one tracking link per post

In AppsFlyer, Adjust, Singular or Tenjin, create a link for the post you are about to publish. Give it a campaign name that says which post it is, like reel_oct_launch. This name is how you will find the post in your install report.

  2. 02

    Connect Instagram to Chat33

Log in through Instagram's own screen with your app's or studio's professional account. Facebook Pages work the same way.

  3. 03

    Build the flow

Trigger: a comment with your keyword on that post. Step: Send an app download link. Paste the tracking link in the App Store and Google Play fields, or two store-specific links if your MMP gives you two.

  4. 04

    Publish and test

Post the reel with a clear call to action: Comment PLAY and I'll send you the game. Comment from a second account and tap the button to check the whole path once.

  5. 05

    Read the results

Chat33 shows the comments, DMs sent and taps for the flow. Your MMP shows installs, retention and revenue for the campaign name. One link per post means one row per post.

Your MMP, your link.

Chat33 does not replace your attribution. It delivers your tracking link to the person who asked for it. Here is how to name a post in each of the four big MMPs.

AppsFlyer

OneLink

In AppsFlyer, open Engage, then OneLink management, and create a link in your OneLink template. Set a media source for all your Chat33 links and change the campaign for every post.

One OneLink routes iPhone and Android by itself, so paste the same link into both store fields of the Chat33 step.

Adjust

tracker link

In Adjust, open Campaign Lab, then Custom links, and create a link for a channel you name Chat33. Add the campaign, ad group and creative to the end of the link for each post.

Adjust reports installs by tracker, so the post shows up as its own row under your Chat33 channel.

Singular

Singular Link

In Singular, create a Singular Link for a custom source called Chat33. Copy it once, then add the campaign name to the end of the link for every post.

Encode spaces as %20, or better, do not use spaces in campaign names at all.

Tenjin

campaign link

In Tenjin, add a Custom Channel called Chat33. Then create one campaign per post under that channel, named after the post, and copy the campaign's Click Tracking URL.

Tenjin names the campaign in its dashboard instead of in the link, so each post gets its own copied URL.

Using Branch, Kochava or plain store links? Any link works in the download step. Without an MMP, Chat33 still counts the taps, but installs will not be tied to a post.

The one rule

One link per post.

Attribution is only as good as the names in your links. Give every post its own campaign name and its own flow in Chat33, and the MMP report reads like your feed: one row per post, installs next to each.

Keep names short, lowercase and without spaces: format, month or season, and what the post is about.

Built for games. Great for apps.

Six ways studios and app makers use a comment keyword.

Launch day

Comment PLAY under the trailer reel. Every comment is a store visit with the launch campaign on it.

New season or update

Bring back lapsed players: comment UPDATE and get the store link with what changed in the DM.

Open beta

Send TestFlight or Google Play testing links to people who comment BETA, and see which post filled the beta.

Pre-registration

Point the button at your Google Play pre-registration page and collect sign-ups before launch.

Gameplay clips

Short clips get comments. A keyword turns a clip that went well into installs you can count.

Free trial offers

For subscription apps: comment TRIAL, get the download link with the trial in the message.

Official Meta API

The rules, up front.

Chat33 is an approved Meta Tech Provider. It never asks for your password and only sends what Instagram allows. Here is what that means for app installs.

One DM per comment

Meta allows one private reply to each comment. That reply is the DM with your download button.

iOS counts are partly modeled

Apple's privacy rules mean your MMP reports part of iOS installs in aggregate. Compare posts with each other, not MMP installs with Chat33 taps.

Professional accounts only

Instagram's messaging API works with creator and business accounts. Switching is free and keeps your followers.

Free to start.

Pay when your comments outgrow it. Installs are never metered.

Questions

What is comment-to-install?
You post a reel or a carousel about your app or game and ask people to comment a keyword, such as PLAY. Everyone who comments gets a DM with a download button within seconds. The button opens your tracking link, so the install is attributed to that post in AppsFlyer, Adjust, Singular or Tenjin.
Which MMPs does it work with?
Any MMP that gives you a tracking link: AppsFlyer OneLink, Adjust links, Singular Links and Tenjin campaign links. Chat33 does not replace your MMP. It delivers your tracking link to the person who asked for it, and the MMP does the attribution exactly as it does for an ad.
How do I see which post brought the installs?
Make one tracking link per post and give it a campaign name that describes the post, for example c=reel_oct_scan in AppsFlyer, campaign= in Adjust or pcn= in Singular. Your MMP then reports installs by that campaign name, which is one row per post. In Chat33 you see the comments, DMs sent and link clicks for the flow behind that post.
Do I need to add an SDK or change my app?
No. If your app already uses an MMP SDK, nothing changes. Chat33 only sends the link. If you do not use an MMP, you can paste plain App Store and Google Play links and still count clicks in Chat33, but installs will not be attributed to a post.
Does the button send iPhone and Android users to the right store?
Yes. The app download step takes an App Store link, a Google Play link and a link for everyone else, and Chat33 picks one from the device that taps it. With an AppsFlyer OneLink or another MMP link that already routes by device, paste the same link in both fields.
Why does my MMP show fewer installs than Chat33 shows clicks?
Not everyone who taps installs, and on iOS Apple's privacy rules mean part of the installs are reported by the MMP in aggregate or modeled rather than matched one by one. Compare posts against each other in the MMP instead of comparing MMP installs with Chat33 clicks.
Does it work for mobile games?
Yes. Games are the best fit: gameplay clips and reels get comments, and a keyword like PLAY turns those comments into store visits. Use it for launch day, a new season or update, open betas through TestFlight or Google Play testing, and Google Play pre-registration.
Is this allowed on Instagram?
Yes. Chat33 runs on Meta's official API as an approved Meta Tech Provider. Meta allows one private reply to each comment, which is exactly the DM with your download link. It works on Instagram professional accounts and on Facebook Pages.
